Electra Has a New Hat
If new tires for your car is called new shoes, then a new roof for a house is a new hat, right?
Back in the category of things-I-don’t-wanna-spend-money-on-because-they’re-lame, Electra has a new roof! We thought we could probably wait a year or two, but with the leak this winter in the living room, we didn’t want to risk any water damage in the attic, walls or in the actual living space OR rotting out the plywood underlayment of the roof or roof joists. We also have moss all over the roof - something we’re not used to - and while it’s very fairytale-ish, it’s horrible for the roof and probably killed it before it was ready because that took over. Sooooo, we bit the bullet and got on the roofer’s schedule. Conveniently for me, I was in California for a work/social trip and I missed all of the banging and loud machinery but poor J worked through it all. Oh, and a tip for those of us in super drought: hire roofers, have them remove the old roof and it will rain.
She’s looking gorgeous with her new hat! Someday we will paint her - she deserves to be a true painted lady!
